Hidden In Plain View

Sometimes there are things that are hidden in plain view. The truth is there for all to see, but goes unseen due to how we think.  I have a simple example from of all places, the bar.

Test after test shows that when they do not know which they are drinking, most people prefer draft beer over that from a bottle. Yet most people would say they prefer a bottle, and that is what they most often buy when sitting at the bar – even though draft beer is cheaper. The truth is that our minds quietly fool us. We should know if we prefer the taste of draft, but we identify with the label of the beer and want it in front of us advertising who we believe ourselves to be. That desire causes us to believe (in order to be consistent) that we actually prefer the taste of the bottled beer, which a blind test can prove false.
